McFadyen Consulting
Constructs a Sophisticated Online Store for National Public
Radio Using ATG's Dynamo eBusiness Platform
Vienna, VA - January
3, 2001 - McFadyen Consulting, eBusiness integrators, today
announced the successful, on-time launch of an online store
for National Public Radio (NPR). The online store (shop.npr.org)
offers an environment where visitors can browse merchandise
with ease through well-defined product categories and sample
audio tracks prior to purchase of tapes or compact discs.
Renowned for its journalistic
excellence and standard-setting news, information and cultural
programming, NPR serves a growing audience of nearly 15 million
Americans each week via more than 644 public radio stations.
NPR Online brings hourly newscasts, news features, commentaries,
and live events to internet users through original online
reports, audio streaming, and other multimedia elements. NPR's
goal in building an online store was to offer top-quality,
NPR-branded merchandise.
After evaluating the
various eBusiness platforms available on the market, NPR determined
that ATG's Dynamo was best suited to meet their online goals.
NPR chose McFadyen Consulting as their sole integration partner
based on the firm's 20+ successful Dynamo integrations and
high-quality references from over a decade of working with
Fortune 500 organizations. McFadyen Consulting is the premier
ATG Dynamo integrator in the Washington, D.C. area and regarded
as an expert of full-lifecycle implementations throughout
the web integration industry.
Prior to launching the
online store, technical experts from McFadyen Consulting worked
with NPR to define the goals and strategy for the site and
then architected the technical solutions to achieve them.
McFadyen Consulting led members of the NPR web team through
a customized methodology that spans the strategic, technical,
and creative disciplines. This approach is designed to define
core strategic goals, closely manage project scope, and craft
an architecture suited to the business objectives. Ultimately
the development of the online store had four phases, the first
three involved the technical construction of site components
such as customer service tools, catalog management tools,
and order processing functionality. During the fourth phase
of development, McFadyen Consulting created a new look and
feel for the NPR online presence. The site was operational
and live within 6 weeks of project start.
"NPR selected McFadyen
Consulting as our sole solution integrator based on their
skilled project managers, full lifecycle experience, and Dynamo
expertise. The McFadyen Consulting team was very knowledgeable,
responsive, and a pleasure to work with," stated M.J.
Bear, Director of New Media Services for NPR.
