Stable Infrastructure
McFadyen's clients are assured of uninterrupted development operations with the extremely stable infrastructure available in our facilities in TechnoPark, Trivandrum. Business continuity is ensured with redundant internet connections (trans-oceanic fiber and local satellite earth station), a backup generator for power, and redundant servers. Using Rational ClearCase, the project source code is synchronized between McFadyen's servers in the US and India. With staff, systems, and backups on both continents, business continuity is ensured in case of catastrophe in either location.
Best ATG Expertise in India
For four years McFadyen has been known to have some of the best ATG developers in the US. That tradition continues in India. In December 2002 McFadyen Solutions became the first and the only (as of this printing) ATG-Accredited (a company status) partner. We also have more ATG-Certified (a person status) consultants than any other ATG partner. McFadyen's India operations are seeded with our US-based Indian expatriates to ensure smooth project transition. McFadyen has successfully completed over 40 ATG Dynamo projects and has received many awards for excellence from ATG.
Strong US-India Communications
McFadyen overcomes the frequent communications challenges of offshore development with a variety of technologies and best practices. McFadyen also has a long history of Indian staffing which minimizes the cultural challenges other firms may experience. Our Cisco Pix firewalls, routers, VPN concentrators, and switches provide secure, transparent network access as desired. If appropriate, this infrastructure can be configured to provide developers in India with secure access to McFadyen's US systems, our clients' systems in their US facilities, and/or the production servers at our clients' hosting provider. Internet video conferencing is used to minimize the "distance" between US clients, McFadyen's US operations, and McFadyen's India operations. Our Global communications infrastructure allows for round-the-clock development if needed by using US and India developers simultaneously on a project.
Use of the Industy’s Best Tools - Rational Software
McFadyen uses the full suite of industry-leading IBM Rational Software tools to ensure the India operations efficiently build what the US client wants. These tools are designed to support globally distributed projects - attempting development without them is a risky venture. Rational Rose and RequisitePro are used to capture requirements and designs. Rational ClearCase is used to manage the source code across multiple development centers. Rational ClearQuest manages any bugs, issues, or enhancement requests that arise. Rational Robot and TestManager streamline and deepen the testing process. Rational ProjectConsole provides a summary roll-up for management. All these tools have web accessible front-ends that allow client access to real-time information. McFadyen's offices in TechnoPark also happen to be next to Rational's India office and Rational University.
Global Delivery Methodology Based on RUP
For many years McFadyen has closely followed the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and has recently adopted it as a global delivery methodology. Integrating our modified RUP methodology with the full suite of Rational tools provides the optimal process for global software development projects. The ratio of US-to-Indian staff varies on each project as it progresses through the different phases of the lifecycle and as the needs of the client dictate.
